I was just exited to see what it was. I’m very pleased to see that Adam Pash, Senior Editor of Lifehacker mentioned about my post. And it was more exiting for me when I came to know that Adam Pash found my post via Steve Rubel’s twitter of MicroPesuation.

It also integrated Digg-like user-driven content site ShoutWire’s feed into its front page. On August 8, 2007, there were 1,000,000 user submitted torrents indexed, and had over one million users. On average, there were 10,000 new torrents indexed every day.

TorrentSpy is the one of torrent search engine which faced legal actions from RIAA and MPA starting from May 2005. It all started when the TorrentSpy Star Wars: Episode III and finally made this torrent search engine major to close down. Various companies like RIAA, MPAA, Other Movie Makers etc sued TorrentSpy.

In August 2007, TorrentSpy has denied access to United States users and international users using US-based ISPs. In response, the MPAA filed documents calling TorrentSpy’s denial of access “another illegitimate attempt by defendants to evade authority of this court and the May 29 order”, and asking for sanctions.The very popular tracker as also reported that they are forced to handover all download logs to the RIAA. There are many ways to get to the tracker in the U.S by using a web based proxy but many people are scared of being caught.The ability for users to make comments on individual torrents was also disabled at this time.

Finally On March 24, 2008, Torrent Spy’s Servers was shut down. This was then shortly followed by a message from the administrator declaring the very end of Torrent Spy.

On March 24, 2008 the TorrentSpy has shutdown leaving this message.

Similarly The PirateBay also faces a lot of problems with movie makers, RIAA, MPAA etc. But ThePirateBay still brave enough to face the consequences and it dares these agencies to make ThePiratebay sue! Real guts!
